The Apple Market is a family-owned and run business that has been in operation since 1972. It is one of the few family-run fruit markets left in our area today. On April 26, 1950, Joseph Tiveron bought a 15 – acre farm at the corner of the Queensway and Camilla Road. Here he became a fruit farmer, specializing in apples, onions, carrots, tomatoes, and rhubarb. In the summer of 1972, Joseph’s son, Dave Tiveron, opened a small fruit stand in the family’s barn. Unfortunately, the barn burnt down in late September and everything was lost. Dave convinced his dad to build a new building for him to use. In the spring of 1973, Dave and Paula Tiveron opened The Apple Market / Tiveron Farms as a seasonal fruit stand and garden centre. Here they sold only the freshest fruits, vegetables, and plants, from the spring to fall months. It operated seasonally until 1989. As time...
