About Frontenac County Childcare Centre Kingston

In April 1987, the Frontenac County Board of Education (currently called the Limestone District School Board) directed its staff to develop a position regarding the governance and operations of the childcare centres which operated in Board of Education sites. 

A child care committee was set up comprising of F.C.B.E. staff, community childcare personnel and interested community members. 

At that time the F.C.B.E. operated 3 pre-school centres which were housed in Sydenham High School (now housed in Loughborough Public School), Q.E.C.V.I., and L.C.V.I. A directive from the Ministry of Education forced the F.C.B.E. to begin a process of transferring the governance of these centres to an independent community Board of Directors.
