Founded in 2008, and based on a lifelong love of fresh local food and sustainable food systems, Our multi-award winning Root Cellar has grown rapidly and, with the fall 2021 opening of our Oxford Corner location, our two markets offer Vancouver Island’s largest selection of locally grown, organic and conventional produce, full service butchers and deli, artisanal grocery, dairy, breads, and bulk foods departments. Find our Potting Shed – a boutique florist & garden centre and our sweet Coffee Project, both exclusively located at our McKenzie Corner flagship. Keeping our friends close and our farmers closer, we source the freshest locally grown produce as close to home as possible, before casting the net further afield (because pineapples may not be local but they are delicious!), purchasing from over 250 farms, foragers & producers.
