About General Appliances Lacombe

General Appliances was founded in 1972 as General Repairs and Sales.

Owner Simon Leenstra operated the business in various locations in Lacombe up until 1993, when Peter and Trudy Kuipers purchased the operation at its main street location. In 1999, the owners decided to expand, selling the downtown store and building a much larger showroom at the current site.

In 2008 Peter and Trudy handed the reigns over to the current owners (their son Gary Kuipers, son-in-law Kurtis Dykstra, and employee Jason Siebenga.) At that time General Appliances expanded again to accommodate a wider selection of luxury appliances and increased their service department to accommodate the needs of an expanding clientele.
